Specialities and Approach
I take an integrative approach to counselling. This means I draw on a number of different techniques and therapies depending on the client and their needs. These techniques include EMDR, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), attachment theory, psychodynamic and play therapy.

EMDREye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy technique used to help people deal with traumatic memories, PTSD, phobias and addictions. Studies – and my own experience – show that EMDR works more quickly than conventional talking therapies for deep emotional pain. During a session, we will discuss which memory you would like to target. Then I will direct your eye movements or use hand-tapping to process the traumatic memory and make new associations, without you having to go into too much detail about the event. EMDR is proven to reduce the emotional charge around the original memory or past event and helps you to see it very differently, without fear.

Person-centredThe person-centred approach focuses on the client leading the discussions, rather than the therapist. Sessions with me are a gentle journey of self discovery, while I help you to find your right direction and authentic self. I offer support and empathy along the way, and never any judgment. I will help you reframe your experiences and look at them in a different light.
This approach works for many people and is particularly helpful to those with self-confidence issues. It promotes feelings of self-acceptance and helps you to heal and grow. |
